Heart attack or chest pain from heart blockages

NEW ANTI-INFLAMMATORY DRUG

An outpatient study of an anti-inflammatory medication to stabilize plaque in patients with recent heart attacks.

PATIENT REQUIREMENTS

Male or female
Ages 30-80
Hospitalized for a heart attack or chest pain in past 20 days
No previous bypass surgery and none planned
No angioplasty or stent since heart attack and none planned

CHOLESTEROL-LOWERING MEDICATION

Outpatient study comparing two anticholesterol medications in patients with recent heart attacks and normal cholesterol levels at time of heart attack.

PATIENT REQUIREMENTS

Male or female
Ages 50 or greater
Hospitalized for a heart attack in past 8 days
LDL cholesterol at hospital admission 50-125 mg/dl
