Heart attack or chest pain from heart blockages

NEW ANTI-INFLAMMATORY DRUG

An outpatient study of an anti-inflammatory medication to stabilize plaque in patients with recent heart attacks.

PATIENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Male or female
  • Ages 30-80
  • Hospitalized for a heart attack or chest pain in past 20 days
  • No previous bypass surgery and none planned
  • No angioplasty or stent since heart attack and none planned

CHOLESTEROL-LOWERING MEDICATION

Outpatient study comparing two anticholesterol medications in patients with recent heart attacks and normal cholesterol levels at time of heart attack.

PATIENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Male or female
  • Ages 50 or greater
  • Hospitalized for a heart attack in past 8 days
  • LDL cholesterol at hospital admission 50-125 mg/dl
